John Gorman

John Gorman serves as the Director of Development for The Cure Is Now.  He is a results-driven nonprofit executive experienced in developing and implementing innovative fund development and communications programs. Mr. Gorman has a proven ability to provide team leadership, drive performance, direct program improvement, and maintain quality initiatives to achieve revenue goals. He is a visionary leader known for the ability to win community support, develop key coalitions and build relationships with a shared sense of purpose.

As the Director of The Cure Is Now Development Committee John monitors, develops and recommends policy and action in all areas of fundraising and outreach.  The objectives of the Development office are accomplished by developing realistic fundraising goals and objectives, as well as actionable plans using a strong background in management principles, budgeting practices, cross-departmental project management, information technology utilization, team building and public speaking.

Some of Mr. Gorman’s responsibilities include: 
  • Design, conduct and consult feasibility and planning studies, capital campaigns, major gift solicitations, board recruitment and development, special events, volunteer recruitment and training, as well as proposal writing for individual, corporate, government and foundation grants & funding.
  • Implement a cross section of personnel in Academia, Health care & the Sciences.  Programs are efficient, professional and effective; and utilize sound fund raising principles directed at improving the organization’s development efforts.
  • Create, write and implement business and strategic plans.  Personally engage in identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors that include: individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations.  Many efforts are started from the ground up and include the formation and supervision of such departments as Planned Giving, Major Gifts, Foundation and Corporate Relations, Annual Support, Direct Marketing and Materials Procurement.
  • As Director, responsibilities included developing a comprehensive business plan to implement proven fund-raising principles to effectively reach the desired audience.
